A Win For America's Arctic

President Biden recently released a final conservation rule to protect vital landscapes in America’s Arctic. This new rule will ensure that 13 million acres in the Western Arctic’s designated Special Areas – some of the most ecologically important lands in the Reserve – are more robustly protected. These Special Areas include places like Teshekpuk Lake, Utukok Uplands, Colville River, Kasegaluk Lagoon, and Peard Bay which are vital wildlife habitat for beluga whales, polar bears, muskox, millions of migratory birds, and hundreds of thousands of caribou.

This is an essential step toward creating the enduring protections needed in America’s Arctic to support the needs of communities, sustain biodiversity, and protect our global climate future.

Join us in thanking the Biden administration for recognizing the critical importance of America’s Arctic and taking action to protect it from destructive oil and gas development.
